GrimoNut recently added Het hazelnuts and are listed as being hardy, so I decided to try these, so I ordered two different varieties:
Layered Het #1
Layered Het #3
I gathered other information from the Internet:
Common name is “Siberian Hazel”. It seems to be a bushy shrub that grows to 7 meters. It is native to eastern Asia, from northern China, eastern Mongolia, Korea, Japan, and southeastern Siberia. The plant is self-fertile, which is different from other hazelnut varieties.
Layered Het #1
- medium size nut, new, C. Heterophylla (Asian native) selection, blight resistant, very hardy, our own selection, on trial
Layered Het #3
- medium size nut, C. Heterophylla (Asian native) selection, blight resistant, very hardy, new, on trial
