It is now the end of August and the summer was a cool one for the most part. However, all the older hazelnut trees (2006 plating) exhibited good growth. I suspect the first few years establishes roots and then the tree can develop more vegetation and start to develop some height. The picture above a is one of the original Northerns from 2006, so it is two years since planting and it is quite a bushy form but it is looking pretty good. I am looking forward to the Fall foliage change.
