I was surprised at the number of hazelnuts I was able to harvest this Fall. There was more than I thought there would be, particularly on Skinner #2. This is the first year that bush has really produced any nuts and there was way more than I thought there were, even during the summer when I looked for nut development.
The one other surprising things is that the nuts are so phenotypically different between different varieties but also within varieties. For instance, the two Skinner plants have quite different looking nuts as does the two Northerns.
I divided the Skinner #2 into three bowls based on size - we had two huge nuts from this plant.
